Father's Day is right around the corner! So we figured, why not celebrate dad with a little Mad Men inspired décor? It's all the rage and he'll appreciate a space that's hip, cool and, most importantly, all his own! I am not one to promote the idea of a "man cave", however, I do feel that everyone needs to have a space that reflects upon their own personal style! Thankfully, it doesn't have mean huge leather couches with some sort of coffee table made out of plywood and cinderblocks! Today, masculinity has made a very fashionable transition into interior design. Now we can choose from fabrics and wall coverings that remind us of men's suiting, or seating that is so buttery soft you just have to sit and stay a while. I was just in NYC and found these fabulous fabrics and wall coverings by Designtex. I can't wait to use them in a masculine design.....anyone? anyone? I'm ready!! Just say the word!
And there's even more good news! The space you design with your guy in mind doesn't have to be the basement, garage or shed anymore! We've come such a long way in design that we are no longer trying to hide our guys' personal space! What you should try to achieve for the guy in your life, is a place where he can do the things he loves, pursue his interest, unplug from the daily grind, have friends or family over. Or even as a place to go to be alone. It's a room where they can relax and enjoy life!
Many men love rough furniture designs and bolder colors such as grey, black, and dark brown because they prefer things that remind them of a cave (there's that word again!). I think our "guys" would agree that they design a space with sharper corners, lots of steel, leather and wood. Maybe a bit of glass to add just a hint of, dare I say it?...sparkle.
Every man needs an Eames chair. It's classic. It's iconic. And it's never, ever going out of style . Your guy will enjoy this for many, many years to come! It's worth the investment...trust me! When you think of the Eames Lounge Chair, there are many words that come to mind—classic, stunning, iconic, engineered simplicity… but it’s so much more than that. Think about it.
