Hope Springs Eternal

While the first official day of spring is still a few weeks away, it certainly feels like spring is on its way! Or maybe that's just wishful thinking...either way, I've got a touch of spring fever already! The sun rises earlier, sets later and I am doing my best to bask in the sunlight, even if it is while sitting in my warm living room. It doesn't matter, the sun is shining!

This time of year I tend to get that nagging feeling; the urge to purge! Sound familiar? It's time put away all of the things that made my house warm and cozy for the winter months and replace them with new color palette's and fabrics that are lighter and brighter. But before I can even begin to start designing for spring, I have to declutter and CLEAN! There's nothing like a fresh start!

But cleaning is no fun, and I get sidetracked easily. So, to keep me on track I love to use the free printables found on Clean Mama. Check out this self-paced spring cleaning to do list It's the perfect way to jumpstart my cleaning and keep me on track!

Once you've got your place all spiffed up and cleaned out, you can begin to add fun pieces that remind you of spring. Take a look at Pantone's color picks for Spring 2016.

The quickest and easiest way to update your décor with the seasons, without breaking the bank, is to change out your window treatments, throw pillows and rugs. Pastels have made a comeback in 2016, but they are way cooler than they used to be! Paint a piece of furniture Rose Quartz or layer your couch with pillows in Serenity, Limpet Shell and Lilac Gray.

If you still aren't ready to jump on the pastel bandwagon, and prefer brighter bolder colors to welcome in spring, that's okay too! Bright bold floral patters add a burst of color and will instantly make you feel happy! We're not talking the floral patterns of yesteryear, we're talking updated, fun, and fresh new florals!

Blue is one of my all time favorite springtime hues. Maybe it reminds me of the blue skies, I don't know. But once again, blue makes an appearance in spring décor. Blue has many personalities, it can be serene and calm, or bold and powerful. Heck, it can even be playful and surprising! Add some blue to your décor and see what happens.

You know I love to bring the outdoors in, and what better way to do it than with H&M's 2016 home décor line, Urban Jungle. It gets me giddy, I love it so much!

Here's what I recommend; wait for a rainy spring(ish) day, turn the music up really loud and get cleaning! Then, on the next sunny day, start designing with some fresh, fun, spring colors! The temperatures may not rise as fast as we'd like, but it'll put you in a good mood!

Renee was a pleasure to work with and has great vision. We were doing a total rehab of a recently purchased property and she was able to look at a gutted out '50s cottage and turn it into a beautiful mid-century modern home. She understood our budget and timeline and was good about narrowing all our options down to just a few choices. This expedited the process, made it less difficult and more enjoyable. Once the rehab is done, we look forward to working with her again and finish the rest of the rooms.

Renee at Mandeville Canyon Interior Design was simply wonderful to work with. She was able to understand what we were looking for in terms of color, function and design from the moment we first spoke. She's easy to work with, goes above and beyond and delivers an outstanding design.

Renee not only has an amazingly creative eye, she also directed a massive renovation for us this past year that included the challenges of operating during the pandemic. She put together a team that had an incredible work ethic and brought the project in on-time and on-budget. She's a great listener. When we threw ideas at her, she was never dismissive; quite the contrary, she made them better. Her patience, attention to detail combined with her whacky sense of humor meant we were all able to smile while producing a home that we love. A great talent and a great lady.
